The UT Permian Basin tennis program had a great year during the 2023-24 season.
The men's team was crowned Lone Star Conference Co-Champions and became the second team in UTPB history to make it to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Championship Tournament. Additionally, they had the best season in program history finishing the season with a 20-5 overall record, 7-1 conference record and an 8-1 home record.
They had LSC men's tennis player of the year - Vitaliy Horovoy, who also earned the programs first All-American honors. Horovoy, Jonathan Vega, Takumi Katsuda and Lucas Nitzschke also earned seven LSC All-Conference awards.
In the spring Katsuda and Jonas Krahofer won the ITA Doubles Regional Championship and represented the Falcons at Nationals.
For the women, they duplicated the success they had the previous season winning eight matches during the season.
The success they had on the court, led to them having three players - Paige Bott, Teodora Vrucan, Lisa Guitton - earn LSC All-Conference honors.
Brooke Runyan also had a great year becoming the highest ITA ranked women's single player in program history.
The Falcons also exceled in the classroom, as Jonas Krahofer and Lisa Guitton earned LSC All-Academic honors. As a team, the Falcons had 14 athletes named ITA Scholar-Athletes and had both teams recognized as an All-Academic Team.
